Congratulations to Mariam Yusuf Rajkotwala, a Year 2 student of NUS CDE DoA Bachelor of Landscape Architecture programme, for being awarded the Participate in Design (P!D) Award for Design Studio Project or for Project in a Non-Design Module or Community Service Project.
For this studio, the design brief focused on participatory design and community engagement in Queenstown. Students conducted workshops to engage residents on their views on how they wish to shape their environment to reflect their needs and aspirations while strengthening social capital for the neighborhood.
With the help of Queenstown Kakis, through the flyer-distribution walkabout and engagement workshop, Mariam considered the existing demographics, their concerns, as well as daily routines in her design titled ‘Heart of Gold’, which seeks to revitalize Queenstown ActiveSG Swimming Complex in new and exciting ways.
